2016 IIC Prize for Italian Literary Translation
The Istituto Italiano di Cultura (IIC) Melbourne now invites entries for its inaugural Premio alla Traduzione 2016.
The Premio alla Traduzione aims to promote Italian literature in English translation and to acknowledge and reward excellence in translation in the states of Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia.
The winner will receive a cash prize of $AU 3000 for the completion of a translation project, a return flight to Italy and 1 or 2 months’ stay at the Casa delle Traduzioni in central Rome during the period January or February 2017.
The winning translation will be published, along with a short commentary from the translator, in The AALITRA Review, the peer-reviewed open-access journal of the Australian Association for Literary Translation (AALITRA).
The competition is only open to Australian citizens who, at the time of submission, are residing in Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia or Tasmania (the official jurisdiction of the IIC Melbourne).
